The People’s Republic of China has announced a first-of-its-kind set of draft regulations on the widespread use of algorithmic recommendation technology. The series of 30 articles aims to create comprehensive rules on the increased use of algorithms online, including those applied to search filters, personalised recommendations, information sharing services, user rights and more. In this article, the IAPP dissects the draft regulations that will cover nearly one in five internet users on earth.
