IAPP Westin Research releases Privacy Risk Study 2020

The US Securities and Exchange Commission requires most publicly traded companies to disclose potential risk factors to investors annually. Since 2017, the IAPP studied these disclosures to assess whether companies have been disclosing personal data processing practices and privacy regulations as a risk, and also what business harms the organisations faced for getting privacy wrong. This year, the IAPP’s Westin Research team focused on six key industry sectors and reviewed the privacy risk disclosures published by a selection of five companies in each sector. The research found there is growing concern about the cost of compliance with a rapidly evolving privacy regulatory landscape.
