The proposed American Data Privacy and Protection Act (ADPPA) is the closest US Congress has got to passing comprehensive privacy legislation. While this is no small feat, the legislation is currently at a standstill as lawmakers renegotiate provisions, particularly around preemption and preserving the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
