India is all set to introduce the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill (DPDPB) Bill in Parliament, as per the official notification by Parliament. The Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, will present the Bill in Lok Sabha on Thursday. The Parliamentary panel on IT has recommended the enactment of the DPDP Bill "without any undue delay".
UPDATE: 030823 - The IAPP reports that after years of delays, the long-anticipated introduction of DPDPB to the Indian Parliament has arrived. The 2023 version of the draft bill was introduced in the lower house of Parliament, the Lok Sabha, with Parliament's monsoon session scheduled to close 11 August.
