Industry gauges future of Privacy Shield replacement

Privacy professionals continue to wait for news on a replacement for the EU-US Privacy Shield agreement after it was struck down by the Court of Justice of the European Union in its Schrems II ruling last summer. In a series of virtual events, IAPP Research Director Caitlin Fennessy, US Department of Commerce Deputy Assistant Secretary for Services Christopher Hoff, and NOYB Founder Max Schrems shared their thoughts on a potential Privacy Shield replacement. In a separate article, the IAPP asks whether a 'multilateral privacy treaty' could be the answer to Schrems II. Back in Europe, EU negotiators are demanding that personal data transferred to the US will not be subject to mass surveillance, according to EURACTIV.
