This extraterritorial reach is beginning to hamper the global data community as countries scramble to protect their own data,  according to BigID Vice President, Privacy Policy, Heather Federman (CIPP/US). Federman discusses the impacts of these laws on the future of global data transfers, including consumer loss, data nationalism and the politicising of data.
