IBM Cost of a Data Breach Report 2022

IBM Security has revealed the average cost of a data breach increased from $4.24 million to $4.4 million per incident. The analysis, now in its 17th year, is based on 550 data breaches observed worldwide between March 2021 to March 2022. The average cost of a breach increased by 2.6% in the year and 13% over the last two years, with 50% of the breach costs being incurred more than a year after the breach. The survey also showed more than 60% of the surveyed organisations increased prices for their products and services to account for the costs associated with a breach.
