Chapter 3: ICO consultation on guidance on privacy-preserving practices

The ICO has been engaging in a series of consultations into its guidance on privacy-preserving practices. The consultation's first chapter introducing anonymisation was opened in June 2021. Then in October, the second chapter asked how de we ensure anonymisation is effective? In this third chapter in the consultation, the ICO is asking for feedback on pseudonymisation. The draft guidance examines the differences between pseudonymisation and anonymisation, explores how pseudonymisation can reduce risk, permit the processing of personal data for other purposes, and how to approach re-identification offences under DPA 2018.
