Chapter 4: ICO consultation on guidance on privacy-preserving practices

08/03/2022 | ICO

The public consultation opened by the ICO on its updated draft guidance on anonymisation, pseudonymisation and privacy-enhancing technologies will end on 16th September.

The fourth chapter explores approaches to governance when anonymising personal data, with guidance on legislation to consider when disclosing anonymous data. These include ensuring transparency by using DPIAs to identify risks as well as keeping up to date with technical and legal developments in order to ensure anonymisation remains effective. The chapter goes on to offer guidance about related legislation to consider when disclosing anonymous information and how to approach satisfying accountability and governance obligations. Further additional draft chapters are to be released, for which the responses will be used to inform the final guidance.
