ICO calls for more sewage discharge transparency from water companies

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has written an open letter to 12 water companies calling for greater transparency about sewage discharges if they want to rebuild consumer trust. The letter urges water companies to make proactive monthly disclosures of sewage discharge information to provide more efficient and timely details to the public. The ICO reminds water companies of their obligation to release environmental information both proactively and upon public request under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR).
