ICO fines This Is The Big Deal Limited £30k

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has fined This Is The Big Deal Limited £30,000 after the company sent 41,417,889 unsolicited direct marketing messages to individuals who had not consented to receiving such messages in violation of regulations 22 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR). The majority of messages sent were email, however. 1,511,547 were text messages, of which 102,132  messages failed to include an opt-out option, a contravention of regulation 23 of PECR.
