ICO FOI blog discusses working smarter to increase efficiency

In a second blog highlighting the importance of FOI at the ICO. In this article, Warren Seddon, Director of FOI and Transparency, discusses the difficulties of operating under a static budget while at the same time having to manage year-on-year increases in FOI complaints. Despite the constraints, Warren outlines areas where the ICO is making improvements, such as using early intervention techniques to negotiate satisfactory outcomes between the requestor and public authority. With performance back to pre-pandemic levels, there is hope that by working smarter, the ICO will be able to reduce its backlog.
