ICO issues enforcement notices to two public services for FOI failings

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has issued enforcement notices to Devon and Cornwall Police and Barking, Havering and Redbridge Hospitals NHS Trust for failing to comply with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). 

Devon and Cornwall Police responded to only 39% to 65% of requests within the required 20 working days between 2022 and 2024, leading to a backlog of 251 requests by June 2024. Similarly, the Barking, Havering and Redbridge Hospitals NHS Trust only responded to 29% of requests within the statutory timeframe over 12 months, with a backlog of 785 requests by June 2024.
