ICO issues reprimand to NHS Blood and Transplant Service

30/06/2022 | ICO

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has issued a reprimand to the NHS Blood and Transplant Service following an investigation into a breach caused by developers working on a system for matching kidney and pancreas donations to recipients. The ICO exercised its discretion to reduce the proposed monetary penalty to a public reprimand in accordance with its new approach to public sector enforcement. The fine would have otherwise been £749,856.

Details of the ICO enforcement action and investigation are contained in the ICO's blog outlining its new approach to public sector enforcement.
