The ICO has announced new guidance on subject access requests. The ICO said that its guidelines aim to more clearly outline the rights of data subjects to request access to data about them along with the obligations relevant authorities must adhere to when dealing with such requests. The guidance also addresses joint controllers, efforts to obtain data through a surrogate and limitations on requests. Additionally, the ICO drew up guidance on how to handle "unfounded or excessive" requests. The public consultation is open for both guides until the 11th of March 2022.
