ICO opens data protection statutory review into media and journalists

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has begun a statutory review under Section 178 of the Data Protection Act 2018 to understand how the media industry uses personal data. The review comes less than a year since the former Information Commissioner published data protection guidance for media and journalists. The ICO wants to engage with journalists and data protection professionals in the news and media industry. Respondents can complete an online questionnaire up until 30 September.
