The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has published a new audit framework to assist organisations in measuring their compliance with UK data protection laws. The framework enables organisations to identify areas for improvement in their data protection compliance practices and foster a culture of privacy. The ICO designed the new framework to be suitable for a range of different stakeholders, including senior managers, DPOs, compliance auditors, records managers and cybersecurity teams. The framework contains nine toolkits covering key areas such as accountability, records management, cybersecurity, staff awareness, data sharing, subject access requests, personal data breach management, artificial intelligence and age-appropriate design.
