The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has published details of its age assurance call for evidence and six industry roundtables. The ICO originally opened the consultation in November 2021 as part of its ongoing work on the Age-Appropriate Design Code to gain insight into the views and opinions concerning the technology. A total of 22 consultation responses were submitted, with 52 organisations taking part in the roundtable events. While views differed and were sometimes contradictory, the ICO has concluded there is still uncertainty around the ideal solution, nor is it a silver bullet to online safety and should not be relied upon as the only protection method.
