GP surgeries could refuse to share patient data in industrial action

GP surgeries in England could refuse to share patient data and limit the number of patients they see to 25 a day after an overwhelming vote by British Medical Association (BMA) members in favour of industrial action. More than 8,500 GPs participated in the BMA ballot, with 98.3% voting favouring collective action. Consequently, the BMA will now encourage practices to select from a list of 10 potential actions, including withdrawing permission for data-sharing agreements and freezing sign-ups for new data-sharing agreements or local system platforms.
