Pay per viewer streaming device raises privacy concerns

A new device that can count the number of people in a room in order to charge for streaming events on a per person basis in the home was launched on Monday. The technology developed by Xcinex's streaming platform Venue will have the "ability to monitor a living room for people and sell individual On-Demand tickets to view at home first-run cinematic releases, sporting events, concerts and more".  Meanwhile, The Guardian reports on a group of scientists who created online games to highlight the risks of AI emotion recognition. What can go wrong with technology like this? Other than the apparent privacy, human rights, and racial bias concerns, of course.
