UK Government refers itself to ICO over investment summit email blunder

In an update over the weekend, the Independent reported that the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) had referred itself to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) over the human error that led to the email addresses of more than 100 of the invitees and their staff being CC'd by mistake. In a statement, a government spokesperson said: "This was caused by an administrative human error, and we apologise to those affected. We take data protection very seriously, and we have referred this issue to the Information Commissioner's Office."
