Ireland considers appointing more data protection commissioners

The Department of Justice in Ireland confirmed that it asked officials to consider the appointment of additional commissioners to the DPC’s office. The move would mean Helen Dixon shares the role. While there are calls for two additional commissioners from the Irish Council for Civil Liberties, other privacy professionals feel the government needs to outline what the commissioners would do. “More bodies at the table does not necessarily increase the quality of the dinner,” according to Daragh O’Brien.
