WhatsApp has made changes to its privacy policy for users in Europe following the €225m fine issued by the Irish Data Protection Commission last year. The edits to its privacy policy that came into effect today are intended to clarify information for people who do not use WhatsApp and to better explain how WhatsApp retains and deletes data. The company said in a statement: “Following further engagement with the Irish Data Protection Commission regarding its order in the transparency inquiry, we’ve made a small number of additional edits and clarifications to our November 2021 privacy policy for users in the European region.”
