India extends public comment period on draft data protection law

India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has extended the public consultation period on the draft Digital Personal Data Protection Bill 2022 to 2 January 2023. The ministry released the bill on 18 November and set the closing date for the original consultation period on 17 December. The Indian government said the consultation period was extended "in response to the requests received from several stakeholders."
