New research conducted by ISACA has revealed that cybersecurity teams are being excluded from the development of policies related to artificial intelligence (AI). Out of 1,800 cybersecurity professionals surveyed, only 35% reported their involvement in policy creation, while 45% indicated they had no role in the development, onboarding, or implementation of AI solutions.
Chris Dimitriadis, Chief Global Strategy Officer at ISACA, highlighted that despite a growing trend towards establishing AI governance frameworks, cybersecurity remains worryingly absent from many of these initiatives.
In the rush to innovate and enhance customer experiences through AI, Dimitriadis explained that organisations often overlook cybersecurity, focusing instead on ethical and compliance aspects. The importance of integrating cybersecurity into AI governance cannot be stressed enough, he added.
