ECB announces plan to conduct cyber-resilience tests on European banks

The European Central Bank (ECB) has announced that it will conduct its first-ever cyber resilience stress tests on 109 European banks in 2024. The test will focus on the response and recovery capabilities of each bank in the event of a successful cyber attack rather than their ability to prevent it. The findings and lessons learned will be discussed with each bank as part of the 2024 Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process. The exercise's main findings will be published in the summer of 2024.
