Hong Kong inspired by GDPR as it looks to strengthen privacy laws

Hong Kong is looking to follow the lead of European privacy regulators in applying stricter penalties for data protection violations. If agreed, amendments to the regional government’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance would see fines based on a percentage of global turnover, like the GDPR.
