TikTok data transfer investigation final decision expected within weeks

The Irish Data Protection Commissioner (DPC) is preparing to publish its final decision about its investigation into TikTok's data transfer practices. The investigation, which began in 2021, examined whether TikTok's transfer of personal data to China violated the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and if the company met transparency requirements for such transfers.

A month after the DPC submitted its Article 60 draft decision, no objections have been raised by interested EU/EEA data protection authorities (DPAs), indicating that the final decision is likely to be announced within a matter of weeks. 

TikTok has already been informed of the draft decision.
