Many malware infections, along with potentially unwanted program (PUP) irritants, are the result of downloads from unknown or untrusted sources. There is a multitude of websites that distribute malicious payloads by offering them up as something legitimate or by bundling the desired installer with additional programs. This article outlines some simple checks you can perform to assess a website before downloading any file.
