The National Data Guardian has updated its guidance, helping organisations conduct public benefit evaluations during planning stages for new data use initiatives concerning the delivery of care or research and innovation projects. The guidance: What do we mean by public benefit? Evaluating public benefit when health and adult social care data is used for purposes beyond individual care aims to raise the standard of evaluations ahead of using or granting access to patient data.
