noyb kicks of second wave of deceptive cookie banner complaints

In a blog article on Friday, noyb confirmed that it had launched the second wave of action over deceptive cookie banners. A further 270 website operators have been sent complaints in draft form. These organisations have a 60 day notice period to become compliant before the complaints are filed with the relevant authority. The first round of activity in 2021 resulted in 42% of violations being rectified within 30 days. However, noyb claimed 82% of companies did not fully comply, which led to 456 complaints to 20 different DPAs. As a result, the EDPB also had to create a taskforce to handle the responses.
