Ofcom, the UK communications regulator, has published draft guidelines under the Online Safety Act 2023 (OSA) outlining nine areas in which technology companies should focus to improve online safety for women and girls. The guidelines, which were developed following extensive talks with victims, survivors, women's advocacy groups and safety experts, address issues, including online misogyny, targeting of women with abuse and threats of violence, domestic abuse, and the non-consensual sharing of intimate images. A public consultation on the guidelines is open until 23 May 2025.
