ORG submits response to Home Office about CMA reform

The Open Rights Group has submitted a response to the Home Office's calls for information regarding the Computer Misuse Act 1990. The response outlines three areas where the law could be improved. 

  • Clarify the meaning of "authorisation" to avoid clashes with the need to promote interoperability among Internet services.
  • Clarify the meaning of "intent" to increase the protection of the security researchers and users.
  • Strongly opposing measures to criminalise payments of ransoms in following ransomware attacks.
