EU Commission outlines European Digital Identity framework

The European Commission is proposing a new EU-wide European Digital Identity (EDI) that will enable Europeans to access online services without using or sharing personal data. The framework will enable EU citizens to link their national digital identities with other forms of identification, such as their driving licence.
