Overcoming ePrivacy online child exploitation hurdle

The EU continues to be in a stalemate about whether scans for evidence of online child exploitation should be allowed under an ePrivacy Regulation agreement. Those in favour of continuing the scans believe there is no privacy infringement based on the use of random algorithms and other anonymisation practices. On the other hand, privacy advocates and EU privacy officials, including the European Data Protection Supervisor, see the scans as a violation of EU citizens' fundamental right to privacy.
