The US can teach us something about privacy enforcement

The EU (and the UK) can rightfully claim that its data protection laws are the "gold standard." However, when it comes to enforcement, the US Federal Trade Commission has issued far more fines than Europes DPAs combined. Since the GDPR came into force, the EU has collected just $329.8m  million, while the US has received almost $6 billion in privacy fines.
