US sees breakthrough in EU data transfer dispute

The US believes the war in Ukraine could help resolve the long-running dispute over data protection with the EU. Political pressure on both sides of the Atlantic is mounting to approve a new Privacy Shield agreement this week, with technical details to be worked out over the coming weeks. US intelligence agencies' real-time insights provided to the EU is another reason why an agreement should be reached quickly.
