PI publishes response to DCMS consultation on data protection reform

Ahead of the publication of the Data Protection Reform Bill, Privacy International has published its response to the government's consultation on data: a new direction that they submitted back in November. PI's response addresses the likely impacts related to the proposed removal of privacy protections based on their research and investigations from around the world. In particular, PI highlights how the government's argument against strong data protection is driven by the interests of the few companies that actually benefit from weaker protections.
