On Friday, the European Commission will adopt their revamped data transfer mechanism. The updated Standard contractual clauses (SCCs) include added legal and privacy safeguards to enable organisations to transfer EU citizens' personal data to third countries securely. EU executive's justice Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders said, "It is the task of companies to see if they only use SCCS or put additional safeguards like encryption and pseudonymised personal data." Meanwhile, Pinsent Masons write that new UK data transfer guidance is anticipated to be made available by the ICO in the coming weeks.
Note: we will update this post on Friday with any announcements from the Commission.
