European Union agrees deal on class action lawsuits

Lawmakers within European Union countries have struck a deal that will pave the way for Europeans to go to court as a group when their rights have been harmed. Such class-action lawsuits could cover data protection, financial services, travel and tourism, energy, telecommunications, environment and health, and air and train passenger rights.
