Meta and Spotify CEOs criticise EU open-source AI rules

In a joint statement, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Spotify CEO Daniel Ek have criticised EU regulations concerning open-sourced artificial intelligence systems. The two CEOs have warned the region will fall behind because of overly complex rules and that "its fragmented regulatory structure, riddled with inconsistent implementation, is hampering innovation and holding back developers." Instead, they are calling for a streamlined regulatory framework to accelerate the growth of open-source AI, offering support to European developers and the broader creator ecosystem.
