WhatsApp founder takes over as Signal interim CEO

WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton is to take over as Signal's interim CEO following the announcement founder that CEO Moxie Marlinspike will step down. Marlinspike will remain on Signal's board and lead the search for his permanent replacement. Acton founded Signal's competitor WhatsApp in 2009 but left the company in 2017 over differences with the use of user data. Acton co-founded the Signal Foundation with Marlinspike in 2018.
