Almost 90% of Scottish public views FOI as extremly important

The Scottish Information Commissioner has published a new freedom of information opinion poll. The poll of 1,433 people's responses was conducted back in February and highlighted strong public support for transparency for the organisations delivering public services. Among the key findings, 76% of respondents believe FOI is extremely important, while 81% say it is very important. In addition, 87%  see FOI as an essential tool to keep a check on how public authorities spend money, followed by 80% for decision-making.
