EU Court of Justice permits airline passenger data surveillance

The European Court of Justice has ruled that mass surveillance and profiling of air passengers data under the EU Passenger Name Record (PNR) Directive does not breach fundamental rights standards. The PNR requires the surveillance and profiling of practically all air passengers entering, travelling within, or leaving the EU. Travel companies and airlines must send travellers data to Passenger Information Units operated by national police forces.
