A Dutch court has ordered Florida-based software development company Chetu to pay €75,000 to a former employee for its employee monitoring practices who refused to leave their webcam on all day. The Netherlands citizen who worked for the company's office in Rijswijk was fired after he refused on the grounds of "refusal to work" and "insubordination." The court said, "Instruction to leave the camera on is contrary to the employee's right to respect for his private life."
