Facebook backtracks over claims it will pull out of Europe

Facebook’s global head of policy has denied that the tech company could close its service to Europeans if local regulators order it to suspend data transfers to the US. Nick Clegg said during a live-streamed EU policy debate that Facebook wants to continue to support customers and small businesses in Europe. Concerning the apparent U-turn, Nick said: “I suspect there’s some breathless headline writer who got carried away.”
