Google Fitbit deal approved

The European Commission has given the green light to Google’s $2.1BN acquisition of wearable fitness device manufacturer Fitbit. However, a number of conditions have been applied in order to limit privacy and competition concerns. Under the terms of the EU’s approval, Google has committed not to use European Economic Area user Fitbit data for ad targeting purposes for ten years.
