A new report by Swimlane highlights the significant challenges organisations face while adopting artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. While AI has transformed operations and automated complex tasks, the rapid integration of these technologies has outpaced many companies' capabilities to protect sensitive data. The study reveals a gap between established protocols and actual practices in data sharing, particularly with large public language models (LLMs). Despite 70% of organisations claiming to have specific protocols for safeguarding sensitive information, an alarming 74% of respondents acknowledged that employees continue to input sensitive data into such platforms.
In addition, the saturation of AI-related messaging has resulted in professional fatigue, as 76% of respondents feel overwhelmed by the constant focus on AI. More than half of those surveyed (55%) indicated a need for the industry to recalibrate its approach to discussing and promoting AI, signalling a potential shift away from the current hype surrounding the technology.
