In France, annual research into the role of the data protection officer has become more varied and that DPOs are growing in importance but are lacking in formal training and professional development. The study, which the Ministry of Labor conducted with the support of the French DPA, the CNIL, found one-third have not taken any information technology or EU General Data Protection Regulation training since 2016. The CNIL said it would study the insufficient training further.
