Mastercard CMO discusses ongoing privacy challenges in advertising

Mastercard Chief Marketing Officer and World Federation of Advertisers President Raja Rajamannar discussed continuing advertising challenges in an interview with The Drum. Mr Rajamannar spoke about the need to strike the right balance between appropriate data minimisation and ethical targeting techniques to ensure consumer privacy while still achieving marketing objectives. He also added that he supports the phasing out of third-party cookies but noted the ad tech industry is "nowhere near the solution" and is worried about "the concentration of power" within the user-tracking ecosystem.
